What is the difference between an "arts supplement" and a "prescreen audition" recording?
If you are applying as a music, theater or dance major, colleges will often request a prescreen video with very specific guidelines, before they accept students for a live audition. If you are applying as a non-music major, an arts supplement serves to show off your performing arts talent as part of a well rounded application. This type of recording generally has less stringent guidelines.
Should the student’s teacher attend the session?
It is highly recommended that the teacher attend the recording session if possible. The teacher will not only provide invaluable coaching during the session, her/his presence will help the student feel more comfortable and supported.
Do we provide the accompanist or do you?
If you are not currently working with an accompanist, we will email you a list of recommended pianists. It is advisable to schedule a rehearsal with the accompanist prior to the studio date if possible.
What is the turnaround time?
One week guaranteed. Expedited delivery available for additional cost.
What format will my video be delivered in?
In most cases, your video will be delivered as a 1080p Mp4 file via Dropbox. You will then either upload it to a college's online application or to Youtube. If the college has specific instructions such as duration/file size limit or content guidelines, please pass them along to us prior to the session so we can plan accordingly.
Do you have a piano?
We have a beautiful and well-maintained Baldwin grand piano which we record with the revolutionary Earthworks PM40 piano microphone system.
Can you record on location?
Although we record the majority of application videos in our studio, we are able to record in any venue.
What is the cost?
The flat rate for most audition recordings is $550 which covers a single camera studio shoot of up to 2 hours, audio mixing, video editing and delivery. Some factors such as a more elaborate recording/shoot, on-location shoot, or expedited delivery may incur additional cost.
